As a 7,810 sft commercial/residential CLT (Cross Laminated Timber) / GL (Glulam) project, it is the first of its kind in the Canmore area. The GL/CLT components where delivered to site in sea containers and the structure was up in less than two weeks. Most of the exterior walls and structurtal GL beams remained exposed, the interior walls are drywalled. This gives the project a very unique feeling inside and avoids the “wooden box” look.

The materials were perfectly chosen for a commercial/residential application with stores and shops on the main floor and residential units above. Mass timber creates not only a thermal mass, making the interior air quality and temperature very steady and comfortable, it also lends a mass for sound proofing, which often is underestimated in commercial construction.
