Safety Designation

Accessibility: Reclaimed timbers are extremely difficult to source in the desired dimensions and species, and the sources are often inconsistent and unreliable.
Dimensional stability: Reclaimed timbers usually come from old barns or grain elevators and are often a century old. Those original timbers had large variances in their cross sections and have since shrunk, twisted or cracked over decades.
Cost: Reclaimed timbers are not only very expensive to source, but it is also very time consuming to joint them properly. It is much easier and better to build with dimensionally square timbers.

Working safely and making sure everyone gets home to their family safe and healthy every day is a major concern at Woodpecker. For that reason, we became COR certified in 2012.
In the process of achieving this certification, we created an extensive company safety manual, outlining all policies, procedures and record keeping requirements. Woodpecker’s safety officer also received the training as NCSO (National Construction Safety Officer). He ensures that every day’swork in the shop and on site are safe. Working together with an external safety company, he looks after keeping the COR certification current. For residential clients, thatincludes keeping a close eye on the safety of their job site, and for commercial clients, it also means meeting all the legal requirements too.

LEAR Construction has recently has the opportunity to work alongside Woodpecker European Timber Framing on some project and we can unequivocally state that they have been an excellent trade partner to work with. The excellent communication and framing knowledge is bested only by their final product.
